Core Workflow

Recorder is Plexon's entry-level data acquisition platform, built for labs that want a simple, dependable way to record and visualize electrophysiology data. Recorder pairs with standard electrodes and headstages, giving you a clean recording and monitoring workflow without the overhead of real-time spike sorting.

Like the rest of Plexon's recording systems, Recorder samples at 40kHz per channel, giving you a high-resolution view of your signal as it comes in.

  • Live Signal ViewingSee all incoming research signals as they're recorded, including digital inputs, to confirm they're there.
  • No Online Sorting or InteractionRecorder records and displays data in real time, but doesn't sort or let you interact with it during acquisition.
  • Electrode Movement VisibilitySignal changes are visible in real time, useful for spotting when an electrode shifts during recording.
  • .PL2 File FormatFast offline read times, compatible with standard analysis tools.

Headstages

Recorder pairs with the same digital headstages used across Plexon's recording systems, sized for acute or chronic research.

OmniPlex vs. Recorder

Two ways to acquire electrophysiology data. OmniPlex adds full online spike sorting and expanded I/O; Recorder is a simpler, lower-cost entry point for recording and visualization.
