NeuralGlider Inserter: Ultrasonic Micro-vibration Enables Smoother Neural Probe Insertions for Improved Targeting

Ryan Clement, Ph.D., Preclinical Studies Leader and a Senior Research Engineer at Actuated Medical, Inc (AMI)

Ryan Clement is currently the Preclinical Studies Leader and a Senior Research Engineer at Actuated Medical, Inc (AMI), creators of the NeuralGlider Implant Insertion System. Ryan has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio Northern and earned his PhD in Bioengineering from Arizona State University, working in Dr. Daryl Kipke’s lab. He has spent time in both academic and industrial research environments, developing a broach range of technical skills including data acquisition and analysis, instrumentation, device prototyping, and chronic neural implant experiments. He has been an engineering lead and/or principal investigator on a number of federally-funded grants (NIH, DARPA) in a variety of medical fields including neural devices, respiratory care, and endoscopy. He led the development of the NeuralGlider inserter at AMI and continues to stay technically involved in efforts to expand and adapt the system for new devices and targets.
