Offline Sorter v3.3.2 in time for Neuroscience

DALLAS, TX — (October 28, 2013) – Plexon Inc, the leader in advanced hardware and software solutions for neuroscience and behavioral research, announces the newest release of the neuroscience industry’s most recognized and trusted offline neural spike sorting software, Offline Sorter™ v3.3.2.

With more than 1,300 publications specifically citing its use, Offline Sorter is the ubiquitous program for sorting neural signals captured during scientific research. In addition to reading Plexon file types – PLX and the newest PL2™ – Offline Sorter reads file types from many third-party data acquisition companies and software programs across the industry.

Just in time for Neuroscience, Plexon has improved the performance by making navigation more efficient; improved the behavior when the hard drives fills up; and enabled the ability to select waveforms faster to name a few. One notable piece of new functionality has combined many Sorting menu options into new Automatic Sorting and Template Sorting dialogs.

Lastly, a critical bug has been fixed related to loading continuous data from NeuroExplorer^® (.NEX) files. This bug caused continuous data stored in a .NEX file to load in Offline Sorter out of order. Any waveforms extracted from this data would exhibit the same incorrect order, and any then saved to a .NEX or .PLX file would retain the incorrectly ordered data. The nature of the error prevents recovery of the saved data. To identify if you’re using the “Native” NeuroExplorer file loader, go to View, then Data Import Options, and look under the NeuroExplorer tab. If “Use Native Loader” is selected, then continuous data imported from a .NEX file into Offline Sorter will exhibit this bug. To prevent this error from continuing, go to plexon.com/software-downloads, select Offline Sorter, and then download Offline Sorter v 3.3.2.
