JOB PURPOSE

The post involves supporting the principal investigator with behavioural neuroscience and physiology research. The post holder will perform experiments required to meet grant funding milestones and be responsible for day-to-day coordination, running and
maintenance of the laboratory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Run experiments to meet grant milestones or produce preliminary data for future grant applications.

2. Organise key processes in support of ongoing experimental projects in the lab, including ordering consumables.

3. Obtain a Home Office Personal Licence to work with research animals.

4. Provide excellent care for research animals undergoing experiments and managing breeding.

5. Carry out basic analysis using a variety of software packages.

6. Monitor progress and advise the principal investigator of any issues likely to lead to a delay in the project.

7. Attend weekly research group meetings and share/contribute ideas.

8. Communicate with other research groups both inside and outside of the Department (exchanging information, seeking and advising on techniques etc).

9. Drafting results of analysis for input into scientific publications.

10. Contribute actively and enthusiastically to a positive and warm work environment by attending departmental and laboratory events during working hours.
