About This Role:

This position is a research technologist working for the Behavioral Neuroscience Core facility in the COBRE-funded CNAP Center at Kansas State University. The research technologist will primarily help to install equipment (electrophysiology, optogenetics) and train users on use of this and other equipment (ex: cryostat, fluorescence microscope). The activities center on the successful functioning of the core.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires an associate degree and two or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Psychology of a related discipline (e.g., Biology, Neuroscience)
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting
  • Experience with animal learning behavioral procedures
  • Stereotaxic surgical experience
  • Histology, immunohistochemistry, and/or immunofluorescence assays
  • Experience with microscopy and imaging software (e.g., ImageJ or photoshop)
  • Basic programming experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • Experience in working as a member and/or leader of a team
  • Good communication skills
