About This Role:
This position is a research technologist working for the Behavioral Neuroscience Core facility in the COBRE-funded CNAP Center at Kansas State University. The research technologist will primarily help to install equipment (electrophysiology, optogenetics) and train users on use of this and other equipment (ex: cryostat, fluorescence microscope). The activities center on the successful functioning of the core.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires an associate degree and two or more years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Psychology of a related discipline (e.g., Biology, Neuroscience)
- Experience working in a laboratory setting
- Experience with animal learning behavioral procedures
- Stereotaxic surgical experience
- Histology, immunohistochemistry, and/or immunofluorescence assays
- Experience with microscopy and imaging software (e.g., ImageJ or photoshop)
- Basic programming experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
- Experience in working as a member and/or leader of a team
- Good communication skills
