Faculty members pursue independent and collaborative research; they also teach in the MS and PhD in Biostatistics Programs and support a concentration in Biostatistics as part of the Masters of Public Health Program. They are advisors and mentors to a wide variety of students.
Our dedicated faculty members include world leaders in big data analysis, cancer, genetics, infectious disease modeling and intervention studies, medical image processing, metabolomics data analysis, survival analysis, causal inference, statistical methods of health surveys, high-dimensional inference, longitudinal data analysis, and clinical trials. The Department works closely with the NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute and is home to the Data Coordinating Center, Children’s Oncology Group, the Center for Statistics and Quantitative Infectious Diseases and multiple NIH and other grants. The department is ranked #11 among Biostatistics programs at public universities by the U.S. News & World Report (#21 among all biostatistics programs in the nation).
The University of Florida, ranked top ten among public universities, is located in Gainesville, FL, which has been ranked the Best Place to Live in the US by Sperling and Sander’s Cities Ranked & Rated. The College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine are in the University’s Health Science Center, which also includes the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, and Veterinary Health. The Health Science Center also partners with the immediately adjacent UF Health Shands Hospital, and Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and the UF Health Science Center Regional campus located in Jacksonville, FL. Additional major institutes and centers located at the University of Florida include: the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Institute of Child Health Policy, the UF Health Cancer Center, the UF Genetics Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute and the McKnight Brain Institute, all of which provide state-of-the-art environments and access to large data sets for faculty collaboration.
